New York State Approved Licensed Home Inspector Training
Why not put your knowledge to good productive use and be your own boss? The home inspection profession is a growing profession with multiple opportunities. Most home inspectors are entrepreneur’s and start their own businesses. Some home inspectors offer other services like Radon, or Mold testing. Home Inspectors must be licensed in New York State. We have been training home inspectors since 1999.
Questions About Our Training Course……….
Is This Training an Approved Licensing Course? Yes. Our training course is approved by the New York State Department of State Bureau of Educational Standards. This is an approved licensing course. We are the only school in Western New York that is owned and operated by a New Your State Licensed Home Inspector with more than 25 years of inspecting homes, that only instruct home inspectors.
How Long Does The Training Last? The State requires 140 hours of training, divided into 5 modules. Four twenty five hour classroom modules, and one forty hour module. 100 hours are classroom training; 40 hours are field based inspections, where we actually inspect homes. We do not believe in “Accelerated” training. Spreading out this training over the course of 8-12 weeks (depending on the class) helps ensure curriculum retention and satisfactory results on the New York State Home Inspector Exam.
What Does The Training Consist of? We believe in a very interactive environment. Because we keep the class sizes small, you will be able to ask questions and have a hands on training atmosphere. Actual pictures from home inspections, materials and handouts will be used in the classroom. We will fully prepare for all module exams including the New York State Home Inspector Exam. Effective report writing, business start-up overview, and a basic business plan are also included in the training. All of your classes will be instructed by a NYS Licensed Home Inspector and Approved Instructor. You will not be taught by a Realtor, Appraiser or listen to audio tapes or watch movies. Our goal is to ensure that you will be fully prepared to start a home inspection business and conduct quality home inspections. Some of the materials we will be using in the training class are:
Home Inspector Training Curriculum including NYS License Law
Self guided audio and practice home inspection reports
Home Inspection Manual and Sample Report (instructs the student how to properly document a home inspection)
Home Inspector Start-Up Guide (overview of the home inspection profession, marketing tools, information on successfully operating a quality home inspection company, and offering additional services)
Home inspection DVD’s
